Since opening its doors in 1960, this much-loved family-friendly facility has been a popular swimming spot and meeting place for Whitehorse locals.
At over 60 years of age, the condition of Aqualink Nunawading is deteriorating and many of its facilities do not meet contemporary standards of design, service or access.
We need a better understanding about what our community needs and expectations so that we can plan for a centre that is equipped to serve the community well - now and into the future.
We are inviting past and present members of Aqualink to share their experiences with us about Aqualink Nunawading and their thoughts about how we could improve the facilities.
If you’ve never been to Aqualink Nunawading, we also want to hear from you. If not, why haven’t you used the centre? What might get you interested in becoming a member or using the facility?
We’ll also be talking directly to local sports clubs and other key stakeholders to make sure that everyone who is interested has a chance to share their views.
Inviting community feedback is the first stage of the feasibility study, which aims to identify to if there is a need to upgrade or redevelop the facilities.
Your feedback will help us decide what to do next. If required, the second stage will develop a concept plan for potential future works.
The information gathered in stage one will be used to make recommendations about how we can accommodate existing users, encourage future participation, establish quality, contemporary and accessible facilities that are sustainability, as well as enhancing the broader precinct to support Aqualink Nunawading.
