Our Road Map – Council Plan 2017-2021

The Council should prioritise the continuity and constant improvement of our library services. The library provides a wonderful, accessible resource centre for all ages and stages of life, addressing information research needs, literacy, recreational reading, and in a range of media. . It engages and involves the entire community from small children to seniors and is more relevant and necessary than ever for promoting learning, social engagement and the sheer pleasure of reading. It could do even better with more resourcing and must be better funded.

Completely agree, more funding for the Library is essential.

One of THE most important spaces in our town and possibly the only genuine community space left. The library is certaibly the only service/business that has a line of people waiting to access it before it is open.

Our library service ticks ALL the boxes!it is also the one valuable resting place in Wang where people can just sit and BE without any hard sell!I have seen people really recuperating with a chill out at the library, especially rural folk in for a days shopping.

It is important that local government supports citizens with infrastructure and services that provide equal access and opportunity for all. Our library is such a place, it is well loved and supported and rightly so. It is a haven for lifelong learning and exploration of our humanity. Its contribution to our community is priceless.

There is no council managed public space I visit in Wangaratta that does a better job of bringing all age groups together. From toddlers up to the elders....all are welcome. And the Wangaratta library achieves this every week of the year - running programs for the wide diversity of Wangarattas community. Among Wangarattas assetts this is our jewel. The current hours must be maintained...nearly every morning before the doors open I see people queuing up to attend the library....people are voting with their feet..... the council just needs to listen.

I agree totally and just wish I had some votes left for this suggestion.
I would also like to see maintained the investment in hard copy books rather than electronic books.
