Develop the Ovens river at Sydney beach to create a family friendly and safe swimming area. Facilities such as a jetty, partially enclosed safe swimming area, rope swing, slide, and change rooms/toilets. This could be part of the overall acquatic strategy so that a free swimming facility could be provided for residents and tourists. Being close to the CBD, this facility could be well utilised by both local residents, tourists and other visitors in an easily accessible location.

Remember: Keep it clever & be nice to each other.

This kind of riverside development mortifys me. Enclosing part of the river will disrupt the underwater eco-system. The river is a home to other species.... whereas we look on it as a recreation space. A slide into the river will concentrate foot traffic in that one area and will lead to erosion of the bank. Lets look to restoring the degraded banks of the river rather than introducing activities which will lead to further damage.

No need for lifeguards. We already swim there, this would just make it even more user friendly and attractive

What about lifeguards? Who will send out lifeguards to watch the river? And apart from debris, there's manure and dead animals in the river....

I'd also like to suggest a swimming pool be built somewhere in the area around all the new building taking place off Murdoch/Wangaratta-Whitfield Road.

Removing debris from the river will create more swimming spaces and cleaning up near the water twill deter snakes from the area (hopefully).
