What is one way Council could improve Binney Street?

Forum is closed.

What sorts of things do you think could improve the look and function of Euroa's Main Street?

We are developing a Euroa Township Strategy which will provide a long-term vision and action plan for Euroa over the next 10 years.

It will look at things like available residential and commercial development opportunities, carparking and pathways to Binney Street.

We encourage you to take a look at the relevant documents and to provide feedback by contributing to this forum, completing a survey on our landing page and/or by visiting us at our conversation café in the main street on Thursday 23 August.

Feedback will inform the Euroa Township Strategy.

The attached documents are available for comment until 5pm on Wednesday, 5 September.

Mural in the laneway between The Nest & Alberts. Make it an attraction. People love a selfie. Promote through social media using something like #visiteuroa or #iloveeuroa...

Plant some indigenous yellow box and gardens full of indigenous grasses and flowers. Let embrace and celebrate the wonderful bush around us.

I think the initiative is terrific. The studies are a great first step toward providing a snapshot of where we are right now. I would suggest having a physical survey of the vacant lots as many may be restricted by Flood Overlay for future subdivision or development. There were some containing sheds which were viewed by the study as being developed with houses. In relation to the commercial precinct, we have heard negative comments from people who have spoken with Council. These include the view that offices and non retail in Binney Street is causing a problem for its future as a viable shopping...

New plantings and a bit of a freshen up would be nice, but in my view this isn't necessary. I believe we need to look at the three fundamentals of economic development - support existing businesses/infrastructure, build patronage through targeted advertising & tourism, which in turn makes the place more attractive for investment and therefore growth.

With the above in mind, I believe Binney St needs two things - better directional signage to the "Town Centre", more diversity in our shops & longer opening times (particularly on Sundays.)

My assumption is that the signage would be ach...

With population in Euroa growing and more people using train services there needs to be improved access to the railway station. Whether a new access route is developed or the underpass walkway is resurfaced. The path is rough for elderly and those with accessibility needs. It’s also rough to roll a travel bag through there as well.

With a growing population and more people using train services access to the train station needs to be redeveloped. Whether this is developing a new access route from binney st to the train platforms or resurfacing of the underpass walkway. Currently the walkway is rough for elderly and those with accessibility needs. It’s also rough when rolling travel cases through there.

Whilst "Village by the Ranges" has been around for a long time, it is time to review where Euroa is at. Unfortunately, this slogan is very ho hum, and has many negative connotations.
For Euroa to become a name on the map of the north east, we must become the most dynamic community in the region, and grab the attention of our potential visitors and residents.
With the heightened focus on the variety and quality of produce that produced within the shire and surrounding areas, we should concentrate on this great positive for the region, and highlight that we are the southern gateway to this c...

Installation of water drinking taps in Binney Street. What would be even better and an Australian first is free sparkling water drinking taps. Healthy and environmentally friendly. The drinking taps encourage people to drink water and reuse plastic drinking bottles.

Council to commission a new sculpture or installation, for the main street area - something that is photogenic, striking and unique. The goal would be to have something that a passerby would snap a photo of and share to social media (Instagram etc) which in turn generates interest for the sculpture as a must see, and through exposure online is an effective (and cheap) long term marketing tactic to attract people to the town centre.
Many small villages in Europe have photogenic attractions in their town square. Fountains, Interesting Statues, Sculptures etc - there is plenty of inspiration out the...
