Continue to work at reducing carbon emissions - using more solar panels, electric vehicles, retrofitting buildings.
more and stronger partnerships with leading community groups such as Moreland Energy Foundation, Positive Charge, the Alternative Technology Foundation, etc, to attract resources and investment in Moreland.
Capitalise on the existing 'green' sentiments in Moreland by increasing minimum sustainability standards to be leaders within Australian local government areas, and therefore attract the developers with similarly high standards. Ensure affordable housing is maintained and not segregated, such as in the Nicholson Building. Quality new housing will increase existing house values in the community, and policy can ensure affordable housing pool is maintained, offset by increased value overall.
Instead of retrofitting buildings it would make more sense to have minimum energy efficiency standards for new builds. Currently developers are over crowding Moreland with poorly built residential dwellings that are cheap and nasty and require massive amounts of retrofitting to make them liveable. How about some quality standards to begin with.
