The Government needs to set ambitious targets for increasing social housing provision and increasing the supply of affordable and diverse housing. This in turn needs linking to State and local government policy and practice to encourage the innovation and planning policies and controls that are needed to affect a real change. Government sanctioned growth areas should be drivers for social and affordable housing contributions, leading the way with the numbers determined by local demand and housing waiting lists. Outputs can then be achieved by developers working in partnership with local Councils and public and community housing providers. Whereas the reality is its a hard call to even get the topic on planners or developers agendas. So can you please help?
