Community Engagement Means Having Your Say

Community Engagement Means Having Your Say

You told us you want to see how community views and ideas influence Council decisions. Guided by our Community Engagement Strategy, we will continue to listen, have conversations and report back to you.

Whether you live, work, study or play in our city, we want to have genuine discussions about what you think creates a stronger, vibrant and liveable place for everyone. By participating in Council’s decision making processes and sharing your ideas, we can reflect them in our plans and projects.

Council is committed to making sure everyone can access the information they need in a format that is right for them. If you would like information supplied in another language or format please call 02 9806 5050 or contact the Community Engagement team on haveyoursay@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au.

Have your say

Be heard. Help the City of Parramatta to understand community views. Council has different ways for everyone to participate and have their say.

  • Join our online community panel to contribute your ideas, feedback and comments. You will be invited to public meetings, online and in-person discussions, events and workshops. By signing up, you have the chance to share your views, shape our city and win prizes.

  • Visit Parramatta - Our Say, our engagement platform which lists what is being planned for our city right now. You asked for a better way to share your views, which is why we’re improving our platform, Parramatta - Our Say. This will help Council to seek community and stakeholder feedback on projects, policies and programs. Go to Parramatta - Our Say and contribute your views any time you are online.

  • Development Applications On Public Exhibition: Our city is growing and changing. If you want to have your say on new buildings, land use, footpath upgrades and more, you can provide feedback on Development Applications (DA’s) that are open for public review and displayed online. Written submissions can be made to the main contact listed on each individual application listing.

How we engage

We believe that everyone has a right to participate in decision-making on projects, plans and issues that affect them. Which is why we have developed nine principles to guide and shape our approach

1. BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.
We act in an honest open and respectful way at all times to build strong relationships, partnerships and trust with our stakeholders.

2. RIGHT TO BE INVOVLED.
We believe that our stakeholders have a right to be involved in decisions that affect them.

3. CLARITY OF PURPOSE.
We are clear on why, how and about what we are engaging with our stakeholders.

4. ACCESSIBLE AND INCLUSIVE
We provide a range of engagement activities to ensure that the broadest possible range of stakeholders have the opportunity to participate.

5. TIMELY.
We engage in the early stage of our projects  and provide sufficient time for stakeholders to provide input.

6. TAILORED.
We use a range of engagement and communication methods that suit the purpose of engagement and the range of stakeholders involved.

7. COORDINATED.
We collaborate across Council to ensure our engagement activities are coordinated.

8. TRANSPARENT.
We make our decisions in an open and transparent way. We provide feedback to our stakeholders explaining our decisions and letting them know how their input has influenced the outcome.

9. LEARNING FROM PRACTICE.
We evaluate our engagement activities and learn from the feedback that you provide to us.
