Interested in democracy. Worried about the role of the media.
Ron commented on Zac 's question: “'Stewardship of the land' is the phrase I like. As we learn more about our world and our environment we will learn more about being good stewards and that involves lots of factors. We have to learn to trust that there is goodwill and that we are all doing our best for our environment to provide us with a sustainable lifestyle. Grow as we learn.”
Ron commented on Linh's question: “I must disagree with the claim that our national identity was developed in regional Australia. We have always been an urban culture.”
Ron commented on John's question: “I think that we certainly can do it here. Unfortunately there is this xenophobic hysteria in our country that totally distorts our so-called 'fair go' tradition.”
Ron commented on Daniel's question: “The cities do not subsidise rural infrastructure! Our political/economic system does. I would suggest that more infrastructure subsidy goes into cities than into country. "Isn't it time to move on?" is a totally irrelevant and pointless question when people are struggling with the here and now.”
Ron commented on Christopher's question: “I believe that ciries that grow beyond 1 million inhabitants start to become unviable, with to many pressures on infrastructure. Decentralisation is important. And that means there must be a deliberate political impetus to make that happen. Urban sprawl into viable, productive land is unsustainable in the long run.”
