Peter commented on Emma's question: “Hey Anthony, stop making a fool of yourself.”
Peter asked the question: “What contingencies do we have when coal is slowly phased-out world-wide? Most of the royalties just went into new coal rail, so there's no money there for retraining/building new industries. Or are we just hoping that the world will just keep polluting forever?”
Peter commented on Paul's question: “The argument is often that Queensland only exports coal for steel and so, you must have steel! But this is disingenuous, firstly, steel can be made without coal, and much of it is recycled, secondly, nearly 50% of Queensland coal exports are for dirty, deadly thermal power. Queensland should commit to NO NEW COAL.”
Peter commented on Emma's question: “Electricity prices will skyrocket with gas - especially with the LNG export industry - as borne out in Western Australia. We can secure cheaper energy with a higher upfront construction cost and no fluctuating fuel cost by building clean, renewable energy. Expensive gas should be relegated to backup/on-demand peaking plants. ”

Peter asked the question: “Will Victorians tolerate a new brown coal export industry being developed?”
