It should be purely at the players discretion as to when they choose to come out, rather than an AFL endorsed media circus. Perhaps this is more an area for the AFL Players Association. ”

Brendan commented on Matthew's question: “I think their complaints aren't necessarily about the amount, but more so that the CEO of the AFL and people associated with the TV rights deals are taking a significant and skewed percentage that should essentially be afforded to them- given they provide the entertainment. ”

However there seems to be a gaping hole that is conflicted with income derived from advertising. I refer particularly to alcohol (Carlton Draught) and gambling (Betfair). How serious is the AFL about its social responsibility?”
