“With the ever growing emphasis and focus by Australian and International Trade Unions on recruiting, training and engaging youth workers and members there still seems to be a lack of real urgency and action in facilitating the role and voice of the youth union member and activist at a decision making and strategic planning level. What strategies would yousuggest for unions and youth members to trial in tackling some of these barriers; including changing the "old-school culture and set ways of doing things, having to "pay your dues" before taking on branch roles and delegate duties, updating tired approaches to recruitment and industrial actions/campaigns and lastly moving away from the common practice of the non-voting/speaking "guest youth delegate" at branch levels, district/state councils, union executive's, committees and state and national conferences? ”
