If you ask the question voted most popular for this OurSay, you will be invited to join the media leaders on the panel at the 2011 New News Conference. The panel session will be held on Saturday 27 August from 2:30pm-3:30pm in Melbourne at the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI). By posting a question (and securing the most votes) we expect you to be available for the session.
What is New News Conference?
The New News 2011 is an innovative, optimistic conference about the future of journalism. It is not an industry talkfest, nor an academic exercise. It provides citizens with the opportunity to meet the people who run and fill our media. At a time when traditional media companies are under stress and journalism is challenged by the rise of the internet and social media, the New News 2011 asks “what works?”
The two-day conference is a partnership between the Public Interest Journalism Foundation at Swinburne University of Technology and the Melbourne Writers Festival. It will bring together citizen and journalist, old and new, fear and hope, risk and opportunity.
In a keynote session, the leaders of our biggest media organisations will face questions that have been “crowd sourced” from the public through the OurSay participatory democracy site. Visit www.oursay.org to pose a question and vote for the questions you would like to see asked. The person who poses the question voted most popular will join the journalism leaders on the panel.
