Prime Minister, you discriminate against Defence Force men and women when you say the country can afford fair indexation that protects pension purchasing power for over 3 million age pensioners but cannot afford to protect the purchasing power for 65,000 military superannuation pensioners (around $20M in the first year). You compound your discrimination when you add that the country can also afford the latest indexation increase for superannuated MPs, a massive 30 times greater than that for military superannuation pensioners. Given that fair indexation was an employment condition upon enlistment and given that it is clearly affordable, why won't you index military superannuation pensions fairly?

I can no longer hold back my disgust at the raw deal you gave David Jamison yesterday, nor for the deceit and disrespect of our veterans by a PM who distorted facts and figures. Many would say outright lies. I was taught to respect the office of Prime Minister, but no-one can make me respect the proxy holding that office. Misha, Oursay says that you would mediate yesterday's program. They neglected to mention that it would be orchestrated by the Labor spin doctors. You reported in The Age yesterday "punters hanging out to give Gillard a grilling". That never happened, did it? Your report today giving Labor hope after the Vic by-election is also meaningles. Let's face it, choosing between labor and the greens right now is like having to choose between TB and cancer. I openly challenge PM Gillard to discuss fully and frankly the militay pensions issues with the likes of David Jamison and Ted Chitham. She never will, and you Misha lack the ticker to push her on that as well. You are more than welcome to prove me wrong, and then I will apologise, but boubt that will ever be required. Many of our former service men and women having given the best years of their lives are languishing in poverty due to an uncaring government who constantly distort facts. We have a veterans affairs minister who openly refuses to discuss this with veterans. Will you also ignore this Misha? Will the press as a whole ignore us if 10,000 or more march on Canberra? Probably. I am glad my kids will never go to Deakin University, because Oursay was a complete and utter sham. You built up our hopes that we could at least get some answers from the PM, but it was just the usual spin full of smoke and mirrors with greatly distorted facts. What a waste of time and effort!

Well said, Maurie. Remember, the unelected PM is a proven liar so we all should have expected the sham that this event turned out to be.

the forum was a disgrace. The PM never answered the question and when David tried to respond to her reply (or lack of reply) he was rudely cut off. Deakin Uni should hang their heads in shame. Ist time i have viewed this site and if that is the standard Deakin work to i will not be going back

What a farce. Maybe the question was not specific enough in arguing the case that it was DFRB and DFRDB recipients at retirement age and had nothing to do with broader super schemes. Either way, it probably would not have made any difference, she was never going to answer the question, rather deflect to Govt agenda. You can only hope that she will be out of a job soon.

Deakin University and Our Say. Would you consider explaining why the second most voted for question only got 2 minutes air time and no right to respond? I guess I expected a robust debate on the three most voted for questions which is what you implied in your pre show hype. Now that would have been a good show! After seeing the show I would suggest that if the military superannuation issue was not one of the top three issues it would not have even got a mention. I guess I was just naive expecting you to give military superannuants s a 'Fair Go!'.

Ok... I have had sufficient time to settle down a little, not entirely but a little. My fellow ADF and ex ADF friends it is time for us to mobilize and put into practice some that excellent training, the undoubted loyalty to each other and capacity to carry this issue to completion. There is a general election next year and we need to be calculating, methodical and direct in peaceful but highly visible actions against this most deceitful government in my lifetime. I am ready and will do whatever is necessary to inform the general population of our concerns about the integrity and concerns we have about this government. Our current PM is the mirror image of US President Obama and together they will use every political trick in their armoury to retain power. We need to plan several multi city musters and certainly try to get 10,000 or more of us to Canberra on a couple of occasions where the media cannot ignore the numbers and make ourselves seen and heard. Lets use our various Associations and start the process that sees us effectively compete for air time against these charlatans. We have done it in uniform against armed enemies surely we are up to this battle. Congratulations to David for getting us to the table... Now we all need to act and support him for the shabby way he.... and by extension all of us, has been treated.

What a disappointing waste of time this exercise was. The question on military superannuation was the second most rated question and I expected a robust, honest answer from Gillard with a right of reply from the questioner. Instead, Gillard waffled on with absolute deceitful lies for barely a minute and then the moderator closed the question down. I bet that was pre-arranged. Gillard clearly didn't want to answer the question because there is nothing she can say to defend the disgraceful way in which defence pensions are indexed. Shame on Deakin Uni for being part of this sham.

I too am amazed that OurSay would allow themselves to be so obviously manipulated by the PM's Office. One must assume that the reason the "Moderator" was directed to cut off David Jamison when he had "Right of Reply" was that the PM had not answered David's question and that what she had said was "spin" and would not stand scrutiny in a genuine debate. I agree with Ted Chitham and demand that OurSay apologise to the 11,000 Miltary Superannuants who were denied a "Fair Go" afforded other participants. I know that seeking any apology from the PM would be an exercise in futility.

Well, well, well, who would have thought, the red headed liar continues to lie and her progressive, left wing higher educational faction of the ALP plays along. This was a set up of the highest order, the depth of deceit that this woman and her supporters will plumb is beyond belief. How can 5 to6 million Australians support such a blatant liar and as for Deakin university, you are an absolute disgrace and no wonder you have fleas because you clearly bed down with mangy dogs....

To Deakin University, shame on you. Your "moderator's" treatment of David Jamieson was appallingly ill-mannered. I don't think I would have had the patience to sit there after that display of bias. To the PM, don't you have anyone in your advisory team that understands basic mathematics? What we seek is about 1.4% additional to the average annual spend on DFRB/DFRDB retired pay. On last year's expenditure of $1.3billion, that's about $19.5million next year before clawbacks. All the creative accounting in the world can't extrapolate that to $6billion by the time the Future Fund, which was established to fund Commonwealth Super obligations, is activated in 2020. That's if the legally dubious borrowings from the Fund over the last couple of years don't continue. Why isn't the Fund ever mentioned? Because the figures aren't scary enough if it is, I guess. Roll on next year's election,I used to be a Labor supporter, too. No more. Never again.Too many betrayals.
