OurSay users join Julia Gillard as she responds to winning OurSay questions, as well as others questions chosen by Fairfax, from the 'Hangout with the PM' OurSay. This Google hangout was broadcast live across the nation on July 21st at 11am. OurSay users join Julia Gillard as she responds.
To Mathew Gordon...Your P'Poor apology not accepted. Don't bother wasting our time with another charade of this sort. Gillard will feel our wrath come the election. From a Navy Veteran.
The Prime Minister did the same thing she always does, used lots of words to say nothing, I get dizzy with all the spin, when will she understand that we are not all idiots
a most disappointing interview. It ended up being a "Dorothy Dixer" which allowed the PM to showcase what she wanted to boast about but no one could question. As a discriminated against Vietnam Veteran her treatment of David Jamison showed a complete lack of respect, and her so-called reply was a regurgitation of inaccurate and misleading figures.
As a Vietnam Veteran with 20 years Military Service to qualify for Military Superannuation i have joined the ranks of the extremely disgruntled men and women who have watched as the government set about to STEAL OUR SUPERANNUATION INCOME. To add to the insult of the theft the government chooses to ignore us whilst at the same time feathering their own nests with ludicrous increases. The OUR SAY just added to the fury.... Ignore us at your peril.

It matters little how you spell lies, you can even change the font, the color, the size, write it in upper or lower case. You can even adorn the word in roses. But LIES are still LIES. Thank you Prime Minister for being consistent.
I am of the opinion that PM Gillard typifies the words of one of the great US orators and Scholars, Thomas Jefferson, when he said "The moment a person forms a theory, his (or her) imagination sees in every object only the traits which favor theory". The big pity is she does not share his wisdom or knowledge.
Moderator, another poor performance by you at blog.oursay.org/post/27957058366/hung-up-on-hangout Gillard did not answer the 3 most voted questions. 12 questions were asked so she could avoid tough rebuttal then she treated the public with arrogance and contempt in her monologues interspersed with arrogance and rudeness from the host. She was by no means "courageous and openly engaging" nor did she "meet her commitment" as you sycophantically pander. If "her team insisted on answering 9 more" questions it was your job to hold her feet to the fire on the top 3 questions only and not allow her to run OUR say. Your excuse that you were "uncertain about the involvement of additional question askers and their selection until the night before" only shows yor incompetence and poor skills - you had ample time to ensure the event proceeded as advertised.
I think you are all being a bit unkind to the "moderator". After all she did highlight the fact that the Prime Minister knew very little about Military Superannuation and did not wish to become engaged in any such discussion by circumventing any chance of David asking any further questions. Bad move Deakin University and the OurSay team - It certainly poses the question about the impartiallity of one of our proclaimed leading educational institutions in furthering our democratic ideals. As for the Prime Minister, she did herself no favours in peddling clearly refutable untruths in her answers to David's question. She knows as we do that the cost of Fair Indexation of Military Super is around $20m in the first year, not $6b; that only a small number of currently serving members will be able to access superannuation payments after 20 years, most will have to wait until they are at least 60; and every review into Military Super since 1972, including the much touted Matthews Review, have recommended that it be indexed in line with the real cost of living. Poor show Prime Minister. If you have been watching the polls lately you will get some idea of what the ex-service community thought of your performance - We expected discussion on the three most voted questions as promoted by 'OurSay' not a series of 'Dorothy Dixers' dished up to us that was obviously a prerequisite for your appearing on the show. Bill Kaine - not happy Julia
