Dear Prime Minister. Against the strongly expressed concerns of mental health professionals, teacher unions and secular organisations, why do you allow the outrageous situation to continue where largely unqualified, religious evangelists have access to young children in public schools, in the form of the National School Chaplaincy Program?

I see no place for religious education in today's society in public schools, unless it is taught in a unitarian fashion from an observant perspective only. I see no place for the Chaplaincy Program whatsoever, unless it is in private schools.

My Mum has been a primary school teacher for just over 40 years. I asked her last night what she thought of the NSCP. Shes never heard of it. This is such a big issue that only anti-christians know about it???

If you had a child and didn't believe in fairy tales, you would be concerned too. Move on if you don't have anything productive to add.

In your opinion. Personally I think that government policy that contravenes its own secular principles is very much worthy of attention.

Everyone has a right to express an opinion Richard. Bullying only provokes a response. So, no mate, I won't move on.

So, you'll bully to provoke responses Mark?

You were often heard saying that catchphrase, "Moving Forward". I believe 'It's Time',...that You Practice, what You Preach. Move Forward!

Yes, chaplains are cheaper than qualified counsellors but you get what you pay for....children deserve better.

But are you willing to pay more? I haven't seen anyone on this forum say they are willing to pay more.

I made this point before. Stop all the tax benefits for religious organisation and that will more then pay for the difference between the costs of a chaplain as compared to a trained professional.

Maybe 'cause you missed the part David, where I said, "what's wrong with paying more? An old saying, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. As for fixing the GFC, it is said that if America taxed it's churches it would lift them out of their financial situation. Maybe if we did the same, we could help pay for qualified specialists in schools and greener energy sources.

As I have mention before David this is not about $$$.

Truth, it most certainly is about dollars. You are arguing to have something that is a lot more expensive, pretending money does not come into, and wondering why your idea is not getting any traction.

Peter.P Lots of organisations get funding from the government that I have no part of. The arts, rugby league, AFL. Do you think football admissions paid for the MCG?

Let's have Counsellors in schools by all means, but why does one have to be an adherent of the Nicene Creed, be actively involved in the Christian community (evidence to be provided), and provide a potted history of your Christian life and 'jounrney of faith'? All these and more are required on the application for the appointment as a CPS worker. Well, if it looks like a fish, and smells like a fish, then just maybe.......!

I'd like to know why the government is sticking it's nose in religous affairs. This is a private matter and the government should hang thier head in shame. Schools are not your recruitment grounds. Get out!!

After the very first RE class in my daughter's school, she was told by other students she would 'burn in hell' for not attending RE class. I wonder where 6 year olds get such ideas from? The RE teacher also tried to bribe her into class with lollies.

Separation of church and state please: keep government out of the business of religion, and keep religion out of the business of government. God knows (not really) there is plenty to demand a kid's attention at school these days without introducing something that should be a private matter for the student's family to decide on.
