We’re targeting 10 key electorates in the upcoming Federal election

These electorates were chosen to reflect aspects of Australia’s diversity, using the criteria of marginality, location, incumbency, Internet penetration, and demographic diversity.

We believe this is the world’s first social media “intervention” of its kind.

A team of University of Melbourne researchers, led by the Centre for Advancing Journalism and supported by the Melbourne Social Equity Institute, will use this exercise to learn more about how social media affect civic engagement and inform the way journalists report politics. Learn more
