According to friends of AFL players it is said that in the off season there is no drug testing during a certain period. I have been informed that a lot of AFL teams travel overseas in the off season and take advantage of this and get high of Columbias finest marching powder. So my question is, Is there a period where players aren't tested, and if they are tested, is the AFL covering up the fact that they are taking illicit drugs in the off season?

Who cares if AFL players are having a few lines every now and then? Drugs are everywhere, throughout all levels of society and all professions. The obsession with footy players is unhealthy... focus on their ability as a footballer, leave their personal lives alone. Footy players are just like other young Australians, some of them take drugs... big deal.

Is taking illicit drugs in the off season a major deal, given they aren't being used as performance enhancers? And furthermore, to what extend does the AFL own players?

According to my toxicology knowledge (yeah, I'm an awesome reference, feel free to cite me), cocaine is metabolised and leaves the body within 3 to 8 days (dependent on test methodology). This means that if you're affluent enough - and made aware of when testing will be carried out - you can quite easily cheat the system. Based on this, it really wouldn't surprise me that players are having cheeky hits in the off-season. ;-p*

I'm not naming names, its just what I heard and that's why I came on here to ask the question. Also, I'm asking if there is a cover up, I never said there was one. A lot of people talk rubbish and spread rumors about football players and their down time in the off season, I think this our say forum is a perfect way for Demetriou and his mates to clarify these things us AFL fans hear!

Where is the evidence of this drug taking, and where is the evidence that the AFL is covering it up?
